Swimming advisory issued for several Ocean View beaches
According to a press release, the Norfolk Department of Public Health has issued a “Swimming Advisory” for several Ocean View beaches including North Community Beach, Ocean View Park, Sara Constance, 10th View, 13th View, and Captain’s Quarters.
Recent testing has revealed enterococci bacterial levels found in the water at these beaches exceed State Water Quality Standards.
Signs have been posted alerting the public of the swimming advisory. At this time, re-sampling of the beaches is taking place and the outcome of these samples will be available late afternoon tomorrow.
Health officials will continue testing the beach waters and will remove posted signs and notify the public when the bacteria levels decrease.
People swimming or playing in waters with bacteria levels higher than the state standards have an increased risk of developing gastrointestinal illness.
