13-year-old to be sentenced for killing girl in Chesapeake
A 13-year-old boy was set to be sentenced for killing a young girl in Chesapeake on Thursday morning. However, the case was continued, and is now scheduled for 9 a.m. on September 19, 2012.
Last month, the 13-year-old plead guilty to a manslaughter charge after killing a 12-year-old girl.
“I accidently killed my best friend.”
Those are the words he told the judge after he plead guilty to a manslaughter charge.
He told police he didn’t mean to kill 12-year-old Carolyn Cee Cee Walker.
Witnesses say he was playing with a gun when it went off.
NewsChannel 3 spoke with Walker’s mother after the trial.
“It was just a matter of time because we already knew the outcome and the situation, so forth and so on.”
Walker was shot to death back in January in the Owens Village Apartment Complex where she lived.
“It was an accident, but it happened. It happened. I know it was an accident, but it happened.”
Lisa Walker was hoping she could put this trial behind her last month, but the judge asked for 30 more days before sentencing the teen.
The judge said she needed to look into the shooter’s past, including his school records, before making a decision that will affect the 13-year-old for the rest of his life.
