Deputies: School bus routes resume after Kill Devil Hills shooting incident
According to officials at the Dare County Sheriff’s office, Colington Road has reopened, but the search continues for a shooter in an incident at T.J.’s Gas and Grill in Kill Devil Hills.
School bus traffic has resumed. Sheriff Doug Doughtie advises all drivers in the Colington area to drive carefully, because there are still a large number of emergency vehicles in the area as the search continues.
Sheriff Doug Doughtie reports that there were no injuries in the shooting.
The T.J.’s building was shot several times, but was closed at the time of the shooting. Deputies have interviewed several people, looking for information.
Deputies say canine units are on scene.
Around 7 a.m., Sheriff Doug Doughtie issued a statement requesting that citizens stay away from that area and that residents living in that area remain in their homes. Deputies told residents not to send their children out to wait at bus stops – however, school bus routes resumed as usual around 7:45 a.m.
