This Or That: No shampoo, no problem
By Holly Henry, WTKR/WGNT Online Producer
If you are anything like me, your hair is not at its best at 5:30 in the morning – or whatever time it is that you get up.
Fortunately, there is an alternative to getting up a half hour earlier than usual just to shower and tame your hair – say hello to dry shampoo.
At first I was resistant. I thought anything that was sprayed into your hair would just weigh it down, and make it appear greasy. Or worse. Actually, dry shampoo absorbs unwanted moisture in your hair, when sprayed directly into the roots. Then, it actually boosts volume, all while not weighing down the hair.
Here’s a good one to try – it’s called Pssssst! Instant Dry Shampoo.
It costs about $6 at the drugstore. I usually run a brush through my hair, then spray the dry shampoo to the roots, flip my head over and blow-dry it out for about 10 seconds, and then magically, my hair is more smooth and controlled. Even after I blow-dried it. And not weighed down! That’s coming from someone with really fine hair. If you want even more volume, use a teasing comb to tease the roots, spray more, tease, spray, repeat until you’re satisifed.
Why dry shampoo?
-Saves time: no hair washing in the shower
-Saves water
-Makes your hair color last longer.
-Prevents wear-and-tear by eliminating needless hair washings.
I learn things by experience. Here is the moral of my story:
Go from this…
…to this
Do: Spray the dry shampoo into your roots
Don’t: Spray all over the hair. Too much will weigh it down.
Do you have a product question or an idea you think I should try?
